The first deepfake fabricated my voice espousing views I abhorred. Soon, personalized ads eerily echoed my darkest fears. Before long, I was barraged with intimate threats from anonymized accounts. That’s when I realized — the narcissist’s playground had no limits anymore.

Automated systems hold incredible promise, but also grave dangers when deployed irresponsibly. Artificial intelligence possesses exceptional capabilities for improving lives, but its weaknesses could enable significant harms if left unaddressed. As the Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights recognizes, core protections around transparency, accountability and human oversight are essential to prevent exploitation.
